Proteins are made up of many building blocks, known as amino acids. Our body needs dietary protein to supply amino acids for the growth and maintenance of our cells and tissues. Plant and animal-based proteins vary in their quality and digestibility, but this is not usually a concern for most people if their total protein meets their needs. We should aim to consume protein from a variety of sources that benefits both our health and the planets.
Proteins are made up of many different amino acids linked together. There are twenty different of these amino acid building blocks commonly found in plants and animals. A typical protein is made up of 300 or more amino acids and the specific number and sequence of amino acids are unique to each protein. Rather like the alphabet, the amino acid ‘letters’ can be arranged in millions of different ways to create ‘words’ and an entire protein ‘language’. Depending on the number and sequence of amino acids, the resulting protein will fold into a specific shape. This shape is very important as it will determine the protein’s function (e.g. muscle or enzyme). Every species, including humans, has its own characteristic proteins.
Amino acids are classified as either essential or non-essential. As the name suggests, essential amino acids cannot be produced by the body and therefore must come from our diet. Whereas, non-essential amino acids can be produced by the body and therefore do not need to come from the diet.
Essential amino acids
- Histidine
- Isoleucine
- Leucine
- Lysine
- Methionine
- Phenylalanine
- Threonine
- Tryptophan
- Valine
Non-essential amino acids
- Alanine
- Arginine*
- Asparagine
- Aspartate
- Cysteine*
- Glutamate
- Glutamine*
- Glycine*
- Proline*
- Serine
- Taurine*
- Tyrosine*
*these are conditionally essential amino acids, which means they are only essential under certain conditions (e.g. for new-borns).
What do proteins do for the body?
Our bodies are made up of thousands of different proteins, each with a specific function. They make up the structural components of our cells and tissues as well as many enzymes, hormones and the active proteins secreted from immune cells (figure 1).
These body proteins are continually being repaired and replaced throughout our lives. This process (known as ‘protein synthesis’) requires a continuous supply of amino acids. Although some amino acids can be recycled from the breakdown of old body proteins, this process is imperfect. This means we must eat dietary protein to keep up with our body’s amino acid demand.
As protein is essential for cell and tissue growth, adequate intake of protein is particularly important during periods of rapid growth or increased demand, such as childhood, adolescence, pregnancy, and breastfeeding.

Misconception of Protein
There is a misconception about protein, we are a high protein society. People may not getting enough of good or best protein, that’s another reality, but everybody is getting enough protein at the moment. People think the solution to their problems is Protein, especially animal protein. But that is not true. You have to lower down your intake of animal protein anyway and especially when you arrive to 60 years old to heal and protect your liver.
When the liver is sick, we have many kinds of symptoms: aches, pain, immune disorders, skin disorders, etc. When the liver is clogged with fat, heavy metal, viruses, contamination; it can’t do its job properly. We are actually all sick of something, we walk with sick and fatty livers, and we don’t know. The world is sick because we consume too much protein. This false paradigm is entrenched in our society from school to alternative and conservative medicine. We have got trapped in a belief system which doesn’t serve us.
Animal protein is one of the products that makes sick our liver because it feeds viruses. Try not to go protein crazy. If you are plant-based protein is better because it doesn’t feed viruses, but don’t go crazy with nuts because it can clog your liver with too much fat. People confuse Protein with Calorie. When they don’t feel satiated it means that they need Calorie, that why they think they need Protein.
All the animal protein (meat, milk, butter, eggs, yogurt, etc.) feed viruses like Epstein Barr Virus, Guillain Barre, Shingles, Herpes, etc.
Good source of Calories (fat): Banana’ Smoothies, Oranges, Spinach, Blueberries, Mango, Green leaves in general, Potatoes on their own (critical for building muscle), Watermelon, believe or not! Papaya.
Protein Powder has a lot of fat in them, something you must keep in mind. This is not good fat either.
- Children need 2 grams of protein a day.
- Adults need 7 to 10 grams of protein a day.
Good source of Proteins: Spinach, Lentils, Sprouts, Spirulina, Barley Grass, Hem seeds, Pumpkin seeds, Nori raw Seaweed, Apples, Fruit in general, Green Leaves, Broccoli, Cauliflower.
You have to lower the fat intake weather you are vegan, or animal protein based.
Protein doesn’t make bones hard; it is calcium but calcium from other sources than animal proteins. Calcium from tangerines for example, that is a good source of calcium. Mineral is another food that protects and makes bones hard.
It is important to keep in mind that for building muscle you need 3 components: Glucose, Mineral Salts and Workout the Muscles.
- Glucose: tomato, mango, banana, potatoes, tangerine, apple, sweet potatoes, winter squash and others.
- Mineral Salts: Celery Juice. It sustains the muscles, because it removes the toxicity and poison that are in the muscles which comes from the liver allowing the muscle to thrive and get stronger. It is a muscle builder.
- Exercise the Muscles.
You can eat animal protein, but you have to make room for the food that actually is going to heal you and sustain your health in the long run.
We need to learn again how to eat in a healthy way with new recipes and get rid of our society brainwashed about food. Science hasn’t researched everything of the planet, especially in food. Scientists don’t have all the answers because they don’t know them.
Misconception of Protein has been taken from Medical Medium Knowledge (Anthony William).
He has a book of good recipes and many people have healed their bodies by changing their diet.
